If you’re looking for a meal in Nanki Shirahama, look no further than Fukuju Sushi & Single Dishes.

Our sushi restaurant has been serving customers for 60 years in the center of Wakayama’s Nanki Shirahama, one of the top tourist destinations in the Kansai region.

Our aim is to be a friendly sushi restaurant and we try not to take ourselves too seriously. We offer a warm atmosphere where anyone can feel welcome to drop in and enjoy sushi and single dishes made using fresh, locally caught seafood.

Menu

Our sushi and single dishes are made using the plentiful seafood caught in the nearby Kishu Kuroshio waters.

Nigiri sushi can be ordered individually (starting from a single piece), and we also offer assortments, sushi rolls, pressed sushi, and more.

Our single dishes include sashimi, tempura, roasted and boiled dishes, as well as hot pot dishes during winter.

We use fresh, seasonal ingredients, many of which are unique to the region, such as wild longtooth grouper, “mochigatsuo” skipjack tuna, slipper lobster, and moray eel.

Weekday Lunch Specials

Enjoy a casual sushi lunch with our reasonably priced weekday lunch specials.

Treat yourself and indulge just a bit with a special lunch from an authentic sushi restaurant.

Drinks

We offer a wide selection of drinks to enjoy with your sushi and single dishes,

such as local Kishu sakes, umeshu, wine (half bottles), and Nagisa Beer, a local Nanki Shirahama craft beer.

Three Reasons to Choose Fukuju

Traditional Fukuju Flavor

Fukuju was established here in Nanki Shirahama almost 60 years ago. With a selection of sushi and single dishes made using fresh seafood caught in the nearby Kishu waters, we have earned the respect and patronage of both locals and guests visiting while on vacation.

Fukuju has been in business for over half a century, with operations being passed down for three generations. We continue to preserve the traditional Fukuju flavor we’ve been known for since the beginning, while also doing our best to satisfy the needs of our customers in everchanging times. More than anything, our continued success is thanks to the patronage of our customers who have remained loyal across our three generations of operation.

A Bright, Relaxed, and Comfortable Atmosphere

The first floor of the restaurant was renovated in 2018, creating an even more comfortable atmosphere than ever before.

We offer seating options that can cater to a variety of purposes. Our counter seating is perfect for individuals and small parties. We also have raised tatami seating at sunken kotatsu tables,

and normal tables for those who prefer the ease of chairs. On the second floor, private rooms with tatami seating can accommodate large groups (up to approx. 12 people) for banquets, etc.

Locally Caught Fresh Seafood

The waters near the coast of Kishu are home to an abundance of fresh seafood that changes with each season. At Fukuju, you can enjoy sushi, sashimi, and single dishes made using the plentiful seafood caught in the nearby Kishu Kuroshio waters.

We cater to a wide variety of needs!

Our restaurant welcomes all customers warmly, including parties of one.

It’s also perfect for sharing a meal with friends and family, entertaining guests, celebrations, memorial services, year-end parties, New Year’s parties, and other events (up to 12 guests).

We also provide catering services (reservation required).
